Global Quality and Standards Programme (GQSP) Indonesia
The Global Quality and Standards Programme (GQSP) is a large-scale programme funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) to encourage systematic trade development along specific value chains. This is achieved by:
- Strengthening quality infrastructure institutions and service providers
- Enhancing the compliance capacity of private sector actors, particularly small-medium enterprises (SMEs) to improve market access to both domestic and international markets
- Creating a culture of quality among all stakeholders
GQSP Indonesia Phase I, or SMART Fish 2 (2019-2023), in cooperation with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fishery (MMAF) and the National Standardization Agency (BSN), supported a series of selected aquaculture value chains, including shrimp, seaweeds, pangasius, clarias catfish, and milkfish.
The new GQSP Indonesia Phase 2 (2023-2026) aims to build upon the foundations laid during Phase 1 and deepen the intervention by adding new areas, including new species, new products, and contributions to climate change mitigation and adaptation. This will transform shrimp, milkfish, and seaweed value chains. Aligned with government priorities, GQSP Indonesia supports the national priority on the Blue Economy and the national blue agenda to increase economic development, livelihoods, community, and ecosystem resilience through effective climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
Phase 2 Outcomes:
- Outcome 1: Technical competence and sustainability of the National Quality Infrastructure System is enhanced.
- Outcome 2: SMEs compliance with international standards and technical regulations is strengthened.
- Outcome 3: A conducive policy environment and culture for quality are created.
